My time in Spain differed greatly from the other countries I visited, as I returned home to the United States for a family emergency. Being in Spain added another layer to my working list of care home must haves. I spent time in Madrid, Gernika, Bilbao, Barcelona, Lleida, and Toledo. I visited one care home that practiced the model of care proposed by Cuidados Dignos.
Then during the month of March, I attended the Congreso Nacional de Dependencia de Sanidad by Alimarket from 6 to 8 de marzo de 2023 en Madrid – IFEMA.
After the Congress I had the opportunity to visit another care home with another model of care mentioned during the congress.

Residencia Rey Ardid Rosales
Rey Ardid is a group throughout Spain that has several care facilities. They saw that within their care facilities, a space for people living with dementia needed more support. Therefore, they created a building with cognitive impairment and ensured all personnel received dementia training.
